Barend Holiday Lodges

 
Barend is a development of log houses built overlooking a loch and situated about 400 Metres from Sandyhills Beach, one of the best sandy beaches on the Solway Firth. There is a Bar and Restaurant on site and there is a Riding Centre adjacent to the site, beside the loch.  

After we had spent 35 years bulding up the holiday village at Barend Frank and Sue Gourlay felt it was time to retire.  

We still live at Barend House and still own all the fields and woodlands. We retain the Riding School, which is now let out to Margie Bryson who has worked in the School for many years. And we will continue to let some of the lodges at Barend. Type A, & C.  

These chalets are built of solid log in the same way as has been used for many years throughout Scandinavia. They are specially designed for families on holiday.  

The A Types have a double or twin bedroom, bathroom (most with a shower above the bath), living/dining area and kitchen opening on to a large veranda. Upstairs there is another twin bedroom with an en-suite WC and basin, and an open plan bedroom/playroom opening on to another balcony. This room will sleep up to four.  

The C Types are single storey buildings and are one of the most modern Finnish designs available. They have double and triple glazing and insulation in the walls, roof and floor. They have one double room and two twin rooms and a bathroom (with a shower above the bath).  

There is a large well equipped kitchen and a very spacious living/dining room. They are some of the most comfortable holiday chalets available.  

Both types have ample cupboards. They have central heating, and have kitchens with cooker, Microwave oven, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. They also have radios and CD players, colour TVs, DVD players and video recorders. All heating, lighting, towels, and bedding (except cot bedding) are included.

We want to ensure that we are offering good value to all those who come to the beautiful and uncrowded countryside of the South West of Scotland. We are only an hour from the M6 at Carlisle and there is none of the bother of flying to an overseas holiday destination!
